Frontitude uses AI in a few places across your workspace. This guide explains which features use it, where your copy goes when they run, and how to turn AI off for your entire workspace.

Which features use AI
Three features in Frontitude send your copy to an AI model. Each one is off until someone in your workspace turns it on.
AI Tools (MCP)
Connects Claude, Cursor, or any other MCP client to your workspace so it can read and edit copy on your behalf. The AI model here is the one you're already using in your own tool — your copy is sent to whichever provider that tool runs on.
AI Translation
Drafts translations for new and changed copy, using your design context and your previously approved translations as examples. Read more in the AI Translation guide.
AI Metadata
Generates names, categories, unique keys, and tags for copy components as you create them. Read more in the AI Metadata guide.
Where your copy goes
For AI translation and AI metadata, Frontitude sends your copy to OpenAI models hosted on Microsoft Azure, running under Frontitude's own enterprise agreement.
A few important notes:
- Your copy is never used to train AI models — not OpenAI's, not Microsoft's, and not ours.
- Your copy is never shared with, or used to generate results for, another Frontitude workspace.
- Only the copy and design context needed for the request is sent. Frontitude doesn't send your whole library on every call.
- AI tools (MCP) work differently: the model is the one in your own client, so your copy goes to whichever provider that client uses, under your agreement with them.
💡 Tip: If your security team needs to review AI use before you adopt it, turn AI off at the workspace level first. Nothing runs until you turn it back on.
Turning AI off for your workspace
There's a single switch that stops every AI feature at once.
- Open your workspace settings.
- Go to AI.
- Turn off the switch labeled AI in this workspace.
- Confirm in the dialogue box.
A few important notes:
- Each feature keeps its own setting. Turning AI back on restores exactly what was on before — you don't need to set the three features up again.
- Connected AI tools are paused, not disconnected. Nobody has to re-authorize their client when you turn AI back on.
- While AI is off, no AI request is made and nothing is charged for AI translation or metadata generation.
Turning a single feature off
If you only want to stop one thing, each feature has its own switch on the same page.
- Open your workspace settings.
- Go to AI.
- Turn off the switch next to AI tools, AI translation, or Metadata generation.
Seeing who's connected
When AI tools are on, the Connected AI tools section on the AI settings page lists every client anyone in your workspace has connected — who connected it, which client it is, what access it has, and when it was last used. You can revoke any connection from there.
Your own connections also appear under Your AI tools in your profile settings.
